A BUMPER TERM OF CHARITY FUNDRAISING

KES Charities sprang into action again this term, with numerous initiatives and fundraising events. Pupil and staff volunteers have dedicated many hours to ensure the smooth execution of cake sales, our annual KES Unite Charity Concert (see photos below), foodbank collections, a sweet sale, jumble sale collection, a cake baking competition, the Dorothy House Zipline Challenge, Bath Half Marathon and our charity netball match against RHS.

In doing so, our pupils and staff have demonstrated our school values in action: be the best version of yourself, learn together and grow together, always exploring and aim high but stay humble.

The overwhelming support from donors and the KES community has been heartwarming, enabling KES Charities to extend its reach and make a significant difference in many lives. Despite the hectic schedule of this term, the collective effort and commitment have been truly inspiring, showcasing the power of unity and compassion. To date we have raised £22,000! KES Unite was a sell out again this year, and we are very grateful to all our raffle donors.

This July, 34 pupils and six members of staff embark on a three-week trip to Kenya to volunteer at Moving Mountains projects and to see first-hand the impact money raised has on local communities. Each pupil on the trip has committed to their own personal fundraising goals to further support the work of the charity, six of whom took part in the Bath Half Marathon raising an incredible £2,500 between them. Sophie, one of our Year 11 pupils, is writing a book to raise money for Moving Mountains. She hopes to raise £2,000 before the trip departs.

A new initiative for KES this term has seen five Year 12 pupils join the Young Ambassadors Programme run by the Children’s Hospice South West Their goal is to raise awareness of the charity in the Bath area and to fundraise for the Hospice. Ahmad, James, Danny, Olavi and Dina all applied to join the Programme and were interviewed prior to being selected as Young Ambassadors. They then had to present their plans to support the Hospice in a ‘Dragons’ Den’ style presentation. With their plans approved by the ‘Dragons’ - representatives from local businesses, Hamptons, Goughs and Credim Coaching - the KES Young Ambassadors are now working to support a charity abseil event organised by St John’s Church, Keynsham on September 12th & 13th in aid of CHSW.

Together we make a huge difference.
