KES PUPILS CELEBRATE ANOTHER YEAR OF OUTSTANDING A LEVEL RESULTS

Many congratulations to all Year 13 pupils at King Edward's who collected their A Level results today and who have once again done themselves immensely proud.  29% of all grades were at A*,  our second highest ever and more than three times the national average, with 61% at A*/A and 81% at A*-B. Over 40% of the cohort achieved only A* or A grades, with one 1 in 7 pupils gaining 3 or more A*s, including 2 pupils with 5 each.

11 subjects achieved a 100% A*-B success rate, whilst Art, Photography, French, Music and Greek all had an A* success rate of over 50%. Almost 40% of the 93 entries across the three sciences were at the top grade.

Amongst the most popular university destinations for this year’s applicants are UCL, Exeter, Manchester, Bristol and Edinburgh, with impressive success also at other top ranked institutions such as Cambridge, Oxford, Imperial, LSE and St Andrews.  All 15 applicants for Medicine gained a place at their first choice university, a remarkable achievement given the highly competitive application process involved.

Commenting on this year’s results, Headmaster, Martin Boden, said:

“I am delighted that so many of our pupils have again this year achieved the success for which both they and their inspirational teachers have worked so hard. This cohort has navigated the challenging and often unpredictable landscape that they have faced during their school years with maturity, steadfastness and ambition, making the most of an incredible array of co-curricular opportunities along the way and emerging as nicely confident, very personable and well-rounded young adults who will no doubt forge happy and successful pathways in the years to come. I congratulate them all and wish them the very best for the exciting next stage in their lives.”
