SEnior School Welcomes Mr Alex Smith as Deputy Head (Academic)
At the start of the new academic year, we are delighted to welcome Mr Alex SMith to KES as the Senior School Deputy Head (Academic).
Starting out his education with a degree in Classics at Cambridge, Mr Smith gained a Masters in Education and has spent time teaching in schools throughout the UK as well as training teachers across Europe on Erasmus programmes. Mr Smith will be bringing a wealth of experience after serving as Senior Deputy at King’s School (Gloucester) and Deputy Head (Academic) at Notting Hill and Ealing High School during which time he has been part of the Independent School Inspection Team. In addition to his academic interests, Mr Smith enjoys spending time with his family including three young children (the two oldest of which will be joining KES). As an ex-professional level squash player, avid runner, and keen singer, Mr Smith is also looking forward to being involved in wider aspects of school life.
“I am delighted to be joining such a successful and high achieving school. I hope that I can continue to foster a love of learning and build the academic curiosity of the pupils here. The community has been so welcoming to me and my family already and I look forward to supporting KES to further cement its place as the choice for education in the South West and beyond.”
